John Clement

Local hero John Clement started collecting soul music after being loaned “The Temptations Greatest Hits” whist still at school. Having quickly decided this album deserved better company, John headed straight to the delights of the Birkenhead market. As luck would have it, they’d recently had a cache of USA Motown/Tamla/Gordy 45s – And so the record collecting commenced.

JC’s experience and knowledge of soul music runs deep – his local newsagent used to save Blues & Soul for him each week & the lady in the local Rumbelows soon turned grey due to the amount of orders for UK 45s on; Stax, Mojo, Stateside, Jay Boy being purchased by a rather young and rather less grey ‘Clemo’. Financed by his school dinner money, of course. Records have been sold, swapped, stolen but the collecting has never stopped – John will be digging deep into his wall of sound and pulling out some show stoppers for the first LSW, no doubt.
